By Zoe….

The International Low Back Pain Forum can be considered as the crème de la crème of low back pain conferences. Focused predominantly on the primary care management of low back pain, the forum brings together a number of the world’s biggest brains (aka leading low back pain researchers) to share the latest concepts, methods, and results of research on LBP diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, and disability prevention. In particular what I personally love about this conference is its small size, high quality of presentations and discussions and the unpretentious atmosphere…. It really feels like one big happy family trying to make the world a better place through the extermination of back pain. Hosted every 18 months the success of this meeting is evidence by the increasing representation of disciplines, countries and research groups. The next low back pain forum is to be held in picturesque Odense, Denmark 16-19 October 2012 (http://www.lbpforum.org/).

What does the LBP conference have to do with the ICECREAM and early career researchers?

Winter is in full swing down here in Australia (it is cold and we are not as tough as the Europeans) which means icecream sales are down and members of The ICECReam team have had to focus their attention elsewhere. Thankfully thinking about the upcoming LBP forum in Odense has kept us busy and we have two pieces of great news to share….

Firstly, if you haven’t already done so register for the conference now. Through negotiations with organisers of the Forum we have been able to secure a subsidised registration fee for early career researchers to attend the conference. Spots are limited so be quick!

Secondly, thanks to the University of Sydney the ICECReam team successfully secured funding to host a workshop and networking event at the conference. This is going to be a fantastic opportunity to meet some of our trust followers in person and discuss where we are and where we are headed (in life, ICECReam content etc). We know your time is precious but it would be great if you are able to send us a quick ‘Hi’ to break the ice…. And by the time the conference rolls around we will all be the best of friends.

Looking forward to seeing you in Odense and the drinks are on us!
